A sailor’s fate

(first and last sentence were a given that i had to fill in)

A ribbon of moonlight, the road.
Silver passage towards shore
Skipping water, the ship now flowed
Racing for his captain’s true amore

And as the wind filled in his sails
A whisper faint began to warn
His ears closed, to hear he fails
As mist start rising before the dawn…

“Oh night goddess hear my plea
Your sister sea please lull to sleep
My soul and body I entrust thee
For a lover’s hands intact to keep”

And as the ancient vow was sung
He raised his hands towards the sky.
A legend old, a tale for young
A pray to sailor’s faithful ally.

Treacherous wretch the sea ‘tis
Her darkest clouds sent in to hide
The only guide he called his
And to the moon he was denied.

The wind now bellowed in his face
His sight was starting to betray
But in his hands the intricate lace,
a gift from her, showed him the way.

And as the storm hit in the vessel
And as the ropes reeled in with tension
His heart was set with waves to wrestle
His passion being the death’s prevention

But alas no, the sea is cruel
Her heartless self cannot forgive
A sailor true, a shinning jewel,
others to love, his heart to give.

And as the waves crashed in the deck
The captain shouted his parting curse
“Oh vain mistress” his voice shriek
“may all the sailor’s fleets disperse”

The sea’s turmoil was huge to bear
As rain and storm lashed in his brow
The only thing in mind despair
The only sense was blackness now

And morning came, and evening passed.
And night arose, in darkness vast.
And days later, the moon light cast
And the filthy tide, rinsed out a mast.

A lonely gypsy saw the tattered flag
A single tear, her beauty marred.
With slow motions she untied her bag
A marriage veil she let discard.

And she departed, with steady feet
To the highest cliff near the sky
And in the wind her vow repeat
“In life and death, together we lie”

A rugged survivor stumbled and fell.
His clothes torn, his bruises swelled.
And in dry land, his knees now knell
Only a torn lace, his tiredness dispelled

And finally he reached a point known
A place of joy, of dance and singing
And in the night he wasn’t alone.
A group of gypsies were lay there drinking.

But voices fell, and silence rose
And teary eyes made it all known.
And sky trembled by his mighty wail
Left by the fire was his gypsy’s veil…
